My Dad and I have a shared love/obsession of Casting Crowns and he was just telling me three days ago that their song "Glorious Day" was his recent favorite. Imagine my surprise when I cracked open my hymnal just now and saw that "Glorious Day" is a remake of "One Day"! I'm not sure if Dad even knows that!
I love that groups/artists today are taking hymns and putting them back out there for the believers of today.
This is a particularly amazing hymn of praise and recognition to God. Living he loved us, dying he saved us and buried he carried our sins far away. Rising from that death and burial he gives us freedom. He is the hope of the hopeless and one day he's returning. O glorious day indeed! I was thinking about this earlier today - what's the harm, what's the threat in choosing Jesus? Let's say that at the end of your life nothing happens. You don't go to heaven or hell but during your life because you chose Jesus you were able to find peace in the midst of traumatic circumstances, you were able to extend kindness to people because you were allowing something other than your flesh to direct you, etc. Any harm in that? Even if the heaven thing is false it's not a bad way to live your life. Now let's say that at the end of your life you do go either to heaven or hell. Just think about the hottest most miserable day you have ever spent. Multiply that by about 1,000,000. Choosing Jesus seems like a safe way to go either way doesn't it? :) My prayer for you? That you would choose Jesus and look forward to one glorious day.
