#MakeItHappenMonday

Today's #MakeItHappenMonday is focused on that thing you've been keeping deep in your heart. That idea you've thought about implementing, that non-profit you've thought about starting, that book you've played around with writing, that child you've wanted to adopt, etc. Obviously you can't make it happen completely today but you can take the really important steps to make it happen down the road. The first step to making it happen - any of the above or anything on that level - is belief. You must, MUST, believe in yourself.  Believe in Yourself (And Why Nothing Will Work If You Don’t…)   There is incredible power in believing in yourself.    Jon Acuff is one of the best people I know to speak to the idea of believing in yourself and making things happen. Check out his website and all that he has to offer.  There's other steps to take to see something happen but unless you believe you can no other step will be fruitful. So today, on #MakeItHappenMon...

Today is all about doing that thing - finally - that has had you stuck, blocked, paused. It could be as simple as cleaning out the junk drawer that you have been avoiding or it could be as big as finally brushing up your resume and putting it out there. And of course there are all the in between's. Whatever it is today is the day to take steps to being unstuck. Make it happen today! But how? How to make it happen? Well TED has a few ideas - watch one of these talks. Click here for the playlist. Tiny Buddha offers 3 Powerful Ways to Get Unstuck. James Altucher offers his thoughts on breaking free and finally making "it" happen. So what can you and will you make happen today?

Are things happening to you or are you making things happen?  The difference between the two has to do with belief in self and the willingness to simply ask or take a step forward.  Today's #MakeItHappenMonday thoughts come straight from this article I ran across.  I'm not good at making things happen, I am lazy - fearful - insecure and just wait for things to happen to me. Not ideal I know. In fact, if I want to live a life that just happens and invites me to participate every so often then my attitude is perfect! But when I hear myself complain about things happening to me then it's not so perfect after all is it? You've probably said it before, and I'm sure you've had it said to you, "it doesn't hurt to ask." That's true if you are a person who makes things happen. But if you are a person - like me - who waits for things to happen then the asking seems out of line or fear inducing or something uncomfortable. So what ...

People who make it happen have mental toughness. There are certain characteristics that are evident in those who don't wait for things to happen but go out there and make things happen.   And if you want to get real brainy about the whole thing there is a test you can take to calculate your metal toughness quotient. It's called MTQ48 and you can read all about it here and request a free test.  I have a really hard time being mentally tough. For some things it's a piece of cake but for most things - the things that really matter - I wimp out. I am weak. Fortunately for people like me there's help! Maybe you need some refreshers on mental toughness as well? If so check out this whole site dedicated to helping people increase their mental toughness so they can be people who make things happen.  So today for #MakeItHappenMonday my challenge to myself, and you, is to evaluate and increase your mental toughness so we can become people who make things happen...
