#SundayFunday

On this #SundayFunday find a festival or a sporting event you can go to today. This time of year there can be all sorts of interesting themed festivals or farm team games to attend. In my state this is the time of year we generally have the State Fair going on. We have a baseball farm team in town so those are always fun games to attend. Maybe there is something happening at one of your local parks. One of ours has a water fountain that people can cool off and play in. We are at the end of those lazy, hazy days of summer so go and have some fun today!

Why not invite friends, and family, over today - or to a park - and play some games that don't require electricity or wifi? There's a million ideas out there for games to play with toddlers all the way up to adults. Between Google and Pinterest you won't hurt for ideas. Choose a variety of games and activities that include staying dry and getting wet (it is August after all!) plus some games for the shade and those humans - big and little - who like to do some low key things. If you can do s'mores that's always a win, so are frozen treats like ice cream cones and popsicles, and make sure you have lots of water to keep everyone hydrated. If you decide to extend the get together into a meal time then invite everyone to bring their own meat and assign everyone a side dish or dessert to bring to share with everyone. I find that some of the best and most fun get togethers I have ever been to have been spontaneous ones so don't put too much planning into this...

For #SundayFunday pick a museum, aquarium, or zoo to go to. Try to pick a museum that has interactive exhibits like a Children's Museum or The Museum of Science and Natural History. Maybe your local art museum even has some interactive opportunities. To make it even more engaging you could create a scavenger hunt for everyone to participate in at the chosen musuem or zoo. Most museums have a section on their websites for teachers and you can find different resources there to help make your visit interactive. So go out there and have some fun!

On this #SundayFunday why not make a time capsule? Everyone in the family can make their own - something simple like this one: --------------------------------------------------------------> Or you could do one large family one. Here's just one, of many, posts that give some guidance about how to make a family time capsule.   If you Google time capsules you will get an endless amount of posts that give advice, questionnaires you can have family members fill out and include, etc. What a fun project this could be! And it doesn't have to be just family themed. It could be a special group of friends, or a class of students, or whatever you come up with. But no matter how you make the time capsule make sure you preserve it. Here's some tips to keep in mind: Preserving your artifacts is a fun way to celebrate your family now and later—just don’t bury the collection. “When it’s unearthed, if ever, it’s usually a soggy mess,” says Paul Stephen Hudson, a cofounder of th...
