#WinningWednesday

Our #WinningWednesday topic is taking responsibility for your own actions. We win at life when we own ourselves - the good and the bad. Except it's not so hard to own our good is it? I mean, we like to own our good - and some of us really like to own it by making sure everyone hears about our good from us all.the.time. (That's obnoxious and crosses the line of owning our good.) But owning our bad. Oh, we don't like that. At all. But I promise we win at life when we own the stuff that makes us look bad. Oh, it's not easy but it's better. There can be consequences when we don't take responsibility for our actions but  there can also be rewards when we do.    And honestly? The rewards of owning ourselves is worth it, even when it's hard. But why is it so hard to own up to our mistakes? Because our brains generate cognitive blind spots that can make it difficult for us to honestly assess our actions and determine our responsibility for those actions and ...

Today's #WinningWednesday topic is our minds. And more specifically what we allow our minds to think. What we think has a lot of power in our lives. To be winners we must have a mindset that is positive. Listening to our own negative self-talk or allowing others to speak it to us is one of the fastest ways to lose. Thinking too small is also a way we defeat ourselves. (I'm REALLY guilty of this, I defeat myself all the time with small thinking.) Replaying old stories and old mistakes is another way we can end up on the losing side of things. It takes work and intentionality to keep our minds positive. Here are 3 ways to create a winning and healthy mindset.   Another important part of winning and our minds is our willingness to grow or not. Willing to grow is called growth mindset and an unwillingness is called fixed. When you consider those terms - fixed and growth - which sounds healthiest to you? (Yes, that was a rhetorical question - the answer is clear...

#WinningWednesday

This #WinningWednesday I would like to talk about mistakes. Life winners make mistakes and learn from them. Too often we tend to consider mistakes as a negative thing, but in reality they are one of the best ways to learn, grow, and win. Some of the people that have been the most successful at life are actually fans of making mistakes because they have recognized the lessons learned from those mistakes helped them succeed. Tallulah Bankhead, an actress, said this about mistakes, "If I had to live my life again, I’d make the same mistakes, only sooner." She makes an important point about mistakes, outside of the fact that they were important to her success. We tend to run from mistakes, shift their fallout away from us, avoid them at all costs, delay their impact on us but if we would just allow them to happen and come our way we could benefit from their lessons much sooner. So don't be afraid to make mistakes, and if you don't believe me then read this article....

#WinningWednesday

Our #WinningWednesday topic is about winning! Well, duh Beth. Right?! But let me explain. Actually, I'll let someone else explain. Winners know what they want and therefore do whatever they have to do, to get there. You need to stay dedicated in order to become a winner in life. (source)  So for winning wednesday let's talk about winning - sticking with it or not quitting. Full confession: I'm not a winner. I am very persistent but not in the things that matter. So today's winning topic is for me, if *you* get something out of it great. *grin* Don't Quit (author unknown - there's a few names out there so who knows) When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes ...
