Day 219: Letting Go

You've got the song on the repeat loop in your head now don't you?  Sorry about that.  Today's Gratitude Attitude isn't about the song but it is kind of about the message of the song. Darn it, it's stuck in my head...again. I'm grateful for the principle of learning to let go.  And I believe, at least in my life, it is a learning curve.  I found it incredibly difficult to let go of certain situations, people, habits in my life. But I'm  learning.  I'm learning how to draw healthy boundaries, how to say "no", how to not be obligated, how to find closure on my own when it isn't possible to do so collectively, etc.  I'm learning how to let go and still maintain civility, courtesy, and even surface relationship.  I'm learning how to let go so that the healthier and better options have freedom to enter into my life. Embracing Wonder

Imagine all the wondrous things your arms might embrace if they weren't wrapped so tightly around your struggles. Sheila Burke Are you holding on to the wrong things?  The unhealthy things?  The negative things?  The painful things?  By holding on to those you are unable to hold on to the right things, the healthy things, the positive things, the healing. What could happen if you embraced life instead?  What would happen if you embraced healthy things instead?  I think part of our unwillingness to let go of the struggles is they have become a comfort for us - as odd as that sounds.  So we are afraid to set down the struggles and pick...

For Tuesday, February 26: Burn baby burn

May the bridges I burn light the way.   Unknown There's probably a couple of different ways to look at today's quote.  I'm choosing to look at it in a positive, letting-go-of- toxic-people-and-things-in-my-life kind of way. Sometimes we gotta burn bridges.  You've probably heard it said as a warning before. As in don't burn bridges behind you that you may need to cross back over again someday.  Okay, that's true but let's talk today about the bridges you should burn so you aren't tempted to turn around and cross them again.  Because let's face it, some bridges are getting worn out by all the crossing back and forth we've been doing.  And if all we are doing is traveling the same bridge then that means we aren't going anywhere.  Don't you want to go somewhere?  As in forward?  In order to do that you need to burn some bridges and let the light from their burn show you the way forward.  The bridges you need to burn are are diff...
