What matters in this life?

Do you know that nothing you do in this life will ever matter, unless it is about loving God and loving the people he has made.  Francis Chan

What are you working for or toward?  If it isn't relationship based then it won't matter in the end, it won't count for anything.  I'm sorry if that bursts your bubble...oh wait, no I'm actually not sorry.  I don't know of anyone who has passed from this life and the people left behind have camped on what they did rather than the relationship that person had with others.  What truly matters in this life is relationship - with God (your Creator whether you accept or deny that reality) and with others.  And maybe you've heard it before, you can't truly love others unless you love the One who created them first.   You may not believe me, that's okay.  It's not a bone between you and I but it is a bone between you and God.
Why would I say that?  Why would I say that you can't truly love others without loving God first?  Because he is the creator of love.  He breathed himself into us and all that he is we possess, it's up to us whether we allow it to infuse our lives or not.  To truly love others we must love him first and best.  In that we gain a love for others that goes beyond our own understanding and capacity for love.  On our own, without God's love infusing us, we cannot truly love others.  We simply don't have the capacity for it.  We can't comprehend what love really means or is apart from the creator of love.
Whatever you do in this life make sure that love infuses it, it is the only thing that will last.

The End of Affirmation 365

I've been thinking about it for over a month. Usually, when I'm in it I'm engaged. But this time? I started it indifferent and I've felt indifferent all along. I should have never started. Hindsight is 20/20 they say and they aren't wrong. So when I opened my eyes this morning it was clear. It's time. Time to quit this 365. This is the first 365 that I haven't posted several of the days, the first 365 that I wasn't super excited about, the first 365 that I've quit. I've changed my social media presence and interactions the past year so this is also the first 365 that hardly anyone has been interested in. Is it the topic or my decision to not be as accessible on social media? Or is it some other reason altogether? Well, regardless...I'm throwing in the towel on this one. I can't say if I'll ever do another 365 again. Time will tell and I will know if and when it's time.
