Broken

The lead singer of Lifehouse, Jason Wade, has this earthy/grainy/character filled voice that I really like.  The band has been around for a while but just recently (like in the past 5 years if you want to consider that recent) started making waves.  And yes, they've already landed on this blog once with "You and Me".  I must like them just a little bit.  :)
I'm not sure what the band means by the song but I know how I take it!  :)  And since this is my "experiment" and my blog I get to ramble on about how I take the song.  :)
So here's a few of the lyrics strung together that really "get me":
I am damaged at best, like you've already figured out
I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing
With a broken heart that's still beating
In the pain, there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I'm holdin' on
I still see your reflection inside of my eyes
That are looking for a purpose, they're still looking for life
I'm hangin' on another day
Just to see what you throw my way
And I'm hanging on to the words you say
You said that I will be OK
I may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home

So.  Obviously because I come from a heart perspective that I am fearfully and wonderfully made by God and he has plans for me and he is with me, I am going to read this song through that filter. :)
See life happens.  And it's more often than not challenging with some pain mixed in but that's how we grow as people.  It where we learn how strong we are or aren't.  And some days it's all we can do to just hold on.  But God?  He's with us.  Every step of the way.  And when we pause long enough to really look we will all see the reflection of him in our eyes.  He's there, in everyone, because he is the creator.  He might not be visible in every person because of the free will he gave us and so we use it to snuff out him for the sake of going it on our own.  How's that working out for you btw?  Be honest.  Going it on our own, separate from our destiny, never ends up working out.  Just sayin'.  Hang on.  Hang on and see what he throws your way.  Hang on to him and see that you will be ok.  I can attest to this from personal experience.  In the past few years I've had to hang on to God in ways I never saw coming and I am more than okay.  I'm really, really good because he broke me and I hung on to him and healing has arisen.
Happy Thursday!

The End of Affirmation 365

I've been thinking about it for over a month. Usually, when I'm in it I'm engaged. But this time? I started it indifferent and I've felt indifferent all along. I should have never started. Hindsight is 20/20 they say and they aren't wrong. So when I opened my eyes this morning it was clear. It's time. Time to quit this 365. This is the first 365 that I haven't posted several of the days, the first 365 that I wasn't super excited about, the first 365 that I've quit. I've changed my social media presence and interactions the past year so this is also the first 365 that hardly anyone has been interested in. Is it the topic or my decision to not be as accessible on social media? Or is it some other reason altogether? Well, regardless...I'm throwing in the towel on this one. I can't say if I'll ever do another 365 again. Time will tell and I will know if and when it's time.
