Spaghetti Day
Spaghetti...yuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm!
The History of Spaghetti

Spaghetti dishes by Region:

  • Spaghetti aglio e olio – ("spaghetti with garlic and oil" in Italian), a traditional Italian pasta dish, coming from Napoli. It is a variant of the original dish, Spaghetti alle vongole.
  • Spaghetti alla puttanesca – (literally "spaghetti whore-style" in Italian), a tangy, somewhat salty Italian pasta dish invented in the mid-20th century. The ingredients are typical of Southern Italian cuisine: tomatoes, olive oil, olives, capers and garlic.
  • Spaghetti alle vongole – Italian for "spaghetti with clams", it is very popular throughout Italy, especially its central regions, including Rome and further south in Campania (where it is part of traditional Neapolitan cuisine).
  • Spaghetti with meatballs – an Italian-American dish that usually consists of spaghetti, tomato sauce and meatballs

I am all about having spaghetti today.  If the traditional fare bores you a little perhaps try one of the many recipes listed here.
And here's an American spaghetti recipe we sometimes eat in our family, Ohio Spaghetti:
Cook a package of spaghetti, drain
Brown 1 pound hamburger with onions
Combine and add to the mixture 1 large can (48 oz) of either V-8 or Tomato Juice
Bring to a boil and let simmer

One Day Without Shoes Day Today is to raise global awareness for children’s health and education.  Why shoes? Because shoes help protect from bacteria in the dirt, rusty nails, dirty needles and shoes enable feet to withstand the long distances most children in developing countries need to walk to get to school. Join TOMS One for One There is plenty of criticism out there for TOMS and its short term solutions. Critics don't even buy the "at least they are doing something" statement.  However, you have to start somewhere. And every bit of awareness helps something go from short term to long term.  We all have a part to play. Read a Road Map Day One of the many reasons I would stink at The Amazing Race is because I never did learn how to read a road map well.  I remember doing worksheets and class lessons on maps and I was able to skate by to pa
