Got refreshments?

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.  Proverbs 11:25

You never know when you will be the refreshment in someones day.  Oftentimes it is through something you say or do that you don't think is a big deal but to that person it is for that moment.  And when it happens the "strangest" thing happens to you.  You also become refreshed.  Something happens to our spirits when we put ourselves aside and focus on others.  We become light in the worlds we live in.
Being refreshment to others can happen in so many different ways.  Think outside your box, don't allow yourself to be stifled.  Don't over think it, if you do you won't end being genuine as a person who can refresh others.  Let it happen naturally.  And remember, it usually happens through you without you trying or even being aware that you are doing it.  Also you can't set out to refresh others with expectations attached.  Then it's not refreshment in anyone's life.  And it isn't genuine.
I unknowingly was refreshment to someone this past week.  What I ended up doing was no big deal...or so I thought.  Turns out it was a bright spot in their day that they were needing.  So her spirit may have been refreshed by my silly little "gift" but mine ended up being refreshed as well.  It just goes to show you that you never know.
Have you been refreshed by someones act of kindness in your life?  Have you been aware of being refreshment in the lives of others?  If not, why?  How have you been refreshment to someone and been refreshed yourself?  If not, why?

The End of Affirmation 365

I've been thinking about it for over a month. Usually, when I'm in it I'm engaged. But this time? I started it indifferent and I've felt indifferent all along. I should have never started. Hindsight is 20/20 they say and they aren't wrong. So when I opened my eyes this morning it was clear. It's time. Time to quit this 365. This is the first 365 that I haven't posted several of the days, the first 365 that I wasn't super excited about, the first 365 that I've quit. I've changed my social media presence and interactions the past year so this is also the first 365 that hardly anyone has been interested in. Is it the topic or my decision to not be as accessible on social media? Or is it some other reason altogether? Well, regardless...I'm throwing in the towel on this one. I can't say if I'll ever do another 365 again. Time will tell and I will know if and when it's time.

Call it a Day

The literal use of this phrase hails from 1838 when the phrase originally was "call it half a day" to mean leaving work early. (source) The modern use of the phrase is to indicate ending something due to false sense of accomplishment.
