Are you buried in the much?

Practice sorting through the much to get to the must.  Mary Anne Radmacher

I was thinking about how true today's quote is on several levels of life.
In material terms it means we sort through all the "much" in our homes (multiple TVs, computers, unused furniture, "collections", paperwork, etc) and we weed out the much to get to the must (do *you* really need multiple TVs, computers, etc?  Why are you hanging on to unused things when others could be using it?  You see what I mean I am sure).  So it benefits our home life when we can make it a practice to sort through the much that accumulates to get to the must.  Sometimes the much we justify as necessary but really evaluate the necessity.  Is it truly a need or merely a want you've tried to make a need?
In emotional terms it means we sort through all the "much" in our hearts (toxic relationships, unhealthy behaviors, wrong thinking, etc) and we weed out the much to get to the must (the toxic relationships actually make you unhappy - a must is choosing wellness and happiness, a must is choosing to address the reason for the unhealthy behaviors instead of using them to cover up wounds, etc.  You see what I mean I am sure).  So it benefits our emotional health when we make it a practice to sort through the much that builds up to get to the must.  Sometimes we justify the unhealthy behaviors or toxic relationships as a "good" for us, we can't see them for what they are and for the why of them.  Evaluate those things and be bold enough to weed out the much to get to the must.
In spiritual terms it means we sort through all the "much" of religion (rules - spoken or unspoken - created by man not God,  the demand for uniformity, the false doctrines, etc) and we weed out the much to get to the must (the true character and nature of God, his standards for life not the twisted ones man has come up with, etc.  You not only see but you know what I mean I am positive).  So it benefits our spiritual life when we make it a practice to sort through the much that is pushed upon us to get to the must.  Sometimes we are ignorant about the much of religion, other times we choose to ignore the unhealthiness of it because of other people or our own personal reasons.  But I dare you to sort through the much of religion to get to the must of God and relationship with him.  No doubt you won't like everything about the must rather than the much (the much is easier to follow and swallow) and learning about the must will then make you accountable to look at seriously cutting out the much to get to the must but I dare you.  Cut religion loose and live out a relationship with God.
Be bold enough to want the musts of life rather than be buried in the much.

The End of Affirmation 365

I've been thinking about it for over a month. Usually, when I'm in it I'm engaged. But this time? I started it indifferent and I've felt indifferent all along. I should have never started. Hindsight is 20/20 they say and they aren't wrong. So when I opened my eyes this morning it was clear. It's time. Time to quit this 365. This is the first 365 that I haven't posted several of the days, the first 365 that I wasn't super excited about, the first 365 that I've quit. I've changed my social media presence and interactions the past year so this is also the first 365 that hardly anyone has been interested in. Is it the topic or my decision to not be as accessible on social media? Or is it some other reason altogether? Well, regardless...I'm throwing in the towel on this one. I can't say if I'll ever do another 365 again. Time will tell and I will know if and when it's time.
