Go ahead...be adventurous!

Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.  Helen Keller

All the things you'd like to try to do, all the things that have been presented for you to do, all the things you can dream up to do - none of them are worth it if you don't actually go attempt them!  A full life is one that is open to adventure.  It will do you no good to be unable to be adventurous someday and recall fondly the things you wished you did.  Go and do some of those things now!  Be open to new adventures you never dreamed would present themselves to you.  Go for it!  (Yes, can you believe this Type A is encouraging such behavior? *grin*)
I have a friend, she's sunshine in my life, and she could not have dreamed up one year ago where she is headed in few short weeks.  It's an adventure that presented itself "out of the blue" and she's decided to leap toward it.  One year ago she was single, no prospects that she knew of on the horizon, and she was happy teaching here in Colorado.  She went on one adventure - to our beloved Kenya for the longest stretch to date - 7.5 weeks.  In the last hour of her time in Nairobi she met a man.  They became Facebook friends.  And from there the story unfolds - a beautiful, daring adventure.  They will marry in Kenya on July 15 and she will move to Abu Dhabi middle of August and he will join her as soon as his Visa is approved.  What an adventure - a new marriage and a new country to live life through!  At the end of her life when her heart and mind do that review that all people go through near the end, will she have regrets about being adventurous?  I doubt it.  But she would have regrets if she didn't leap toward it.
We can live our life in one of two ways.  Accept the adventures that come our way and see where they lead or live in a safe spot that will end up leaving no impact on anyone, especially ourselves.  What adventures await me will look different than the ones that await you.  That's okay, that's actually better!  Who wants to live the same exact adventure?  Then I dare to suggest it wouldn't really be an adventure after all.  So go live the adventures life presents you, choose to live life fully and not miss out on one sweet moment it offers.  For who knows what that moment holds?  You'll never know unless you leap toward it.

Call it a Day

The literal use of this phrase hails from 1838 when the phrase originally was "call it half a day" to mean leaving work early. (source) The modern use of the phrase is to indicate ending something due to false sense of accomplishment.

More bang for your buck

This phrase was used a lot in 1953 but an earlier citation puts it at 1940 in a Metals and Plastics Publications advertisement. Read about it here . The phrase means you get more for your money.

Butter someone up

There are two probable origins for this idiom and I think both are equally plausible. The first one is that when you spread butter on bread you are buttering it up like one would do when trying to flatter someone. The second is in ancient India there was a practice of throwing balls of butter at statues to ask for favor, i.e. buttering them up. ( source ) When we use the phrase today we generally mean that extreme flattery is used to gain information or favor. It's not always necessarily a compliment.
