Reach

A month or so ago my bestie, Mondi, posted this song/video on her FB and I stopped dead in my tracks.  WHAT!?  Peter Furler as in Peter Furler the former frontman for Newsboys?  Yep the very one and same.  Huh. He quit Newsboys like 2 years ago because he was "done".  Apparently not!  And with this song Furler proves why he can probably never be done!  As my husband, a musician himself, explains, music is in the blood when you are a musician.  Lanny is right because he himself hasn't stepped foot on a stage in years to play but we still have most of his equipment sitting downstairs... :)  But anyway, back to Furler.
He is what we all think of when we hear Newsboys.  Michael Tait has done a great job but really the Newsboys under Tait's voice have turned from Newsboys into the band that back former DC Talk dude.  Let's just be honest.  Love the new songs "Newsboys" have been putting out but really all of them sound like Tait backed by a good band, they are not the Newsboys any of us grew up with!
Enough about all that, let's get to the song!
I LOVE THIS SONG.  What a simple declaration of God's love for us.  He reaches for us.  He reaches for us through our junk, through the baggage we have piled high to create obstacles, through anything we try to throw his way.  He isn't too busy to reach for us, he never puts us on the backburner.  He reaches for YOU.  (Even when you aren't reaching for him)
Happy Monday!

The End of Affirmation 365

I've been thinking about it for over a month. Usually, when I'm in it I'm engaged. But this time? I started it indifferent and I've felt indifferent all along. I should have never started. Hindsight is 20/20 they say and they aren't wrong. So when I opened my eyes this morning it was clear. It's time. Time to quit this 365. This is the first 365 that I haven't posted several of the days, the first 365 that I wasn't super excited about, the first 365 that I've quit. I've changed my social media presence and interactions the past year so this is also the first 365 that hardly anyone has been interested in. Is it the topic or my decision to not be as accessible on social media? Or is it some other reason altogether? Well, regardless...I'm throwing in the towel on this one. I can't say if I'll ever do another 365 again. Time will tell and I will know if and when it's time.
