Even if today's song wasn't sung by one of my most fave artists ever, Brooke Fraser, I would still love it! Thanks to my friend Jen who first clued me into the song about 3 years ago. She called me up one day and said something to the effect of, "Beth! You will love this song that Brooke sings." Jen knows me so well, she was right! I did, and still do, love the song.
First of all, it's Brooke Fraser singing with the author of the song. Of course I love it! :) But what I REALLY love about the song is...c'mon by now you should know what really draws me...the lyrics!! :) Powerful song of commitment to the Lord in all the seasons of life we go through. As a bonus for today I included a video from the author of the song talking about the song and her life surrounding the time when they were getting ready to record the song. I hope it touches you, moves you, challenges you. See it's not hard to worship God when things are good and "right" and happy. But it is hard to worship him when things don't go, haven't gone, aren't going our way. It's hard to worship him when we don't "feel" like it but he honors the worship we give him even when we don't feel like it. That's the worship that is a sacrifice and the worship that refines us.
The words of this song are really impactful. It's a song of recognizing that while life may be dry and desolate, while it may be a day to day battle, while it may be laced with sadness there is still praise to give God. There is still One who sees, knows, understands, hears, and moves on our behalf. And because of that, no matter what we are going through we still have reason to praise him. He is still God. He does not, can not , will not change. And when we come through the season of desolation there comes a season of fruit and we have a responsibility to share the fruit with others. And there is ALWAYS a season of fruit after a season of desolation. "All you saints! Sing your hearts out to God! Thank him to his face! He gets angry once in a while, but across a lifetime there is only love. The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter." (Psalm 30:4-5 MSG)
