So, it's the 8th day of the new year. How ya doin' on those "resolutions"? :)
Saw this song when I was scanning YouTube for videos, took a chance and listened and...LOVED! :) I love Ian Axel's sound, I loved the lyrics to this particular song, I just liked it so it became the song for today.
I fond of songs, etc that promote commitment in relationships - whether they be romantic or friend relationships. This song easily fits both kinds I think. And the unspoken message of this song, in my opinion, is that regardless of when you start to fulfill the promises, "resolutions", you make to yourself in a new year it's never too late. Start today! :)
So, whatever "resolutions" you made to yourself and haven't started yet, start toward fulfilling them today with a small step! Small steps will actually get you a whole lot further than a bunch of large ones!!

A dime a dozen

Today the phrase carries the meaning that something is cheap or without value if it can be lumped in with other similar or exactly-like things. It's more of an insult than anything.

Butter someone up

There are two probable origins for this idiom and I think both are equally plausible. The first one is that when you spread butter on bread you are buttering it up like one would do when trying to flatter someone. The second is in ancient India there was a practice of throwing balls of butter at statues to ask for favor, i.e. buttering them up. ( source ) When we use the phrase today we generally mean that extreme flattery is used to gain information or favor. It's not always necessarily a compliment.
