There's A Place For Us

I love Narnia.  I keep going into my closet hoping I can enter into the world itself. Haha, just kidding about that but I am not kidding about how much I love the book series by C.S. Lewis and the movies.  They have done, to date, a phenomenal job with the movies and my family and I are super excited to see the newest one, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, tonight!  So in honor of the movie today's song is the title track sung by a favorite artist of mine, Carrie Underwood.

In an interview Carrie said she co-wrote the song with someone and kept in mind the theme of the books/movies and tried to stay true to it.  I think she did a great job, it very much falls into the series nicely.  The overall message of the song, to sum up the book/movie, is that we all have a place we belong to and fit into and that place will find us and we find it.  Of course taking it a step further, because C.S. Lewis had an even larger message under the surface, it is God who has carved out that place for each of us and it is he who brings us to that place while simultaneously bringing that place to us.  I know that is true of my own life, as I continue to walk with God he continues to bring me and the place he created me to fit into together and just like Peter, Susan, Edward, and Lucy discover as the series goes along the place we are meant for we grow into.  It's really yet another example of Philippians 1:6, what God starts in each of us he finishes!

THAT is good good news!

The End of Affirmation 365

I've been thinking about it for over a month. Usually, when I'm in it I'm engaged. But this time? I started it indifferent and I've felt indifferent all along. I should have never started. Hindsight is 20/20 they say and they aren't wrong. So when I opened my eyes this morning it was clear. It's time. Time to quit this 365. This is the first 365 that I haven't posted several of the days, the first 365 that I wasn't super excited about, the first 365 that I've quit. I've changed my social media presence and interactions the past year so this is also the first 365 that hardly anyone has been interested in. Is it the topic or my decision to not be as accessible on social media? Or is it some other reason altogether? Well, regardless...I'm throwing in the towel on this one. I can't say if I'll ever do another 365 again. Time will tell and I will know if and when it's time.

Call it a Day

The literal use of this phrase hails from 1838 when the phrase originally was "call it half a day" to mean leaving work early. (source) The modern use of the phrase is to indicate ending something due to false sense of accomplishment.
