Couple Appreciation Month
Being in a long-term relationship (marriage, life partners) can sometimes lead us to a state of complacency with our significant other.  Use this month to tell and show your other how much you appreciate them and how you don't take them for granted. Use your imagination when showing them appreciation -make their favorite foods, do the tasks they normally do around the house before they can get to them to give them a little break and to let them know that you do see their contribution to the household, leave them little love notes, etc.
This month I also think it's great if there are some couples in your life that you have learned from, been inspired by, etc that you show them appreciation for the investment that they have knowingly or unknowingly put into your own couple relationship.

Butter someone up

There are two probable origins for this idiom and I think both are equally plausible. The first one is that when you spread butter on bread you are buttering it up like one would do when trying to flatter someone. The second is in ancient India there was a practice of throwing balls of butter at statues to ask for favor, i.e. buttering them up. ( source ) When we use the phrase today we generally mean that extreme flattery is used to gain information or favor. It's not always necessarily a compliment.

Call it a Day

The literal use of this phrase hails from 1838 when the phrase originally was "call it half a day" to mean leaving work early. (source) The modern use of the phrase is to indicate ending something due to false sense of accomplishment.

More bang for your buck

This phrase was used a lot in 1953 but an earlier citation puts it at 1940 in a Metals and Plastics Publications advertisement. Read about it here . The phrase means you get more for your money.
