More Beautiful You

Today's song is for my official teenager, Mikaela.  :)  She loves this song and I do too.  And interestingly enough she loves this song for the same reasons I do!  See, Mikaela gets it - so far.  She gets that true beauty comes from inside.  She's always telling me about things her friends say to her and what she says back to them.  This is such a "sticky" age.  Girls trying to figure out body issues and who they want to be versus who they are, etc.  Lanny and I pray that Mikaela always has the healthy mindset and perspective about her looks and body that she has right now.  She uses makeup because it's fun, not because she must have it.  She understands that when she looks in the mirror she's looking at the body God designed and she has choices to be a good steward of it.  She gets that in order to take care of yourself you have to eat but what you eat is important.  That's all the external but Mikaela gets the internal.  She understands the scope of purity - not just sexually but for her mind and how she portrays herself to the world.  She believes, without Lanny and I ever talking to her this specifically about it, that purity is a whole package.  To be beautiful you need to be pure sexually, in thought, in word, in deed, in dress.  In all ways.  Hello?!?  Can I be her when I grow up?!?  :)  She's an incredible young lady with a lot of wisdom and maturity.  She knows where beauty comes from and she lives for that kind of beauty.  She rocks our world!  And our prayer is she stays the course.

The End of Affirmation 365

I've been thinking about it for over a month. Usually, when I'm in it I'm engaged. But this time? I started it indifferent and I've felt indifferent all along. I should have never started. Hindsight is 20/20 they say and they aren't wrong. So when I opened my eyes this morning it was clear. It's time. Time to quit this 365. This is the first 365 that I haven't posted several of the days, the first 365 that I wasn't super excited about, the first 365 that I've quit. I've changed my social media presence and interactions the past year so this is also the first 365 that hardly anyone has been interested in. Is it the topic or my decision to not be as accessible on social media? Or is it some other reason altogether? Well, regardless...I'm throwing in the towel on this one. I can't say if I'll ever do another 365 again. Time will tell and I will know if and when it's time.

Call it a Day

The literal use of this phrase hails from 1838 when the phrase originally was "call it half a day" to mean leaving work early. (source) The modern use of the phrase is to indicate ending something due to false sense of accomplishment.
