A sip is a small amount, just a taste. Today's #SundaySip is from Cole Sako. She's someone I followed on Facebook and Instagram (she's vanished from social media recently). She consistently provides this great *sips* of thoughts about faith. This is one she wrote the end of April 2017 and I come back to it often. It was such a great thought, such a powerful visual. I hope this *sip* is perhaps the taste you are looking for, even if you didn't know it!
Our Daily Bread.
We found a new local bakery and are in love. The bread is fresh and the service is good and at the end of the evening they'll give you a large baguette for free.
I've said the Lord's Prayer for years. It's automatic. The words hardly hold meaning for me some days because I've memorized them and memorization can often lead to desensitization. But that baguette kept bothering me.
(As bread tends to do.)
Am I asking for tomorrow's promise today? Am I asking for tomorrow's finance today? Am I asking for tomorrow's redemption today? Am I asking for tomorrow's miracle today?
Give us this day our daily bread, God. Not tomorrow's bread because it won't be good and you'll give us good bread tomorrow. Give us this day our daily bread, God. Our daily temperance and our daily kindness and our daily gentleness and our daily peace and our daily wisdom and our daily patience and our daily healing.
It turns out, bread is the answer to all my problems. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
