Checklist Day
A checklist is a type of informational job aid used to reduce failure by compensating for potential limits of human memory and attention. It helps to ensure consistency and completeness in carrying out a task. A basic example is the "to do list." A more advanced checklist would be a schedule, which lays out tasks to be done according to time of day or other factors. (source)

Create a Great Funeral Day
A few years ago a friend advised me to create my memorial service (funeral) playlist, songs, and scriptures or readings.  I thought it made sense so I've been mentally thinking it through for years but haven't committed it to "ink." Today I'm going to commit some of it to "paper" so at least there will be something should I fly away unexpectedly.

There's more, clearly music says for me what I cannot seem to find the words to say myself.  I'm going to continue working on it!

Mischief Night
What is mischief?
You could watch this movie instead of engaging in mischief that could cause trouble.
In high school the kind of mischief we caused was toilet papering someone's house. I can't remember that I did anything else!

Butter someone up

There are two probable origins for this idiom and I think both are equally plausible. The first one is that when you spread butter on bread you are buttering it up like one would do when trying to flatter someone. The second is in ancient India there was a practice of throwing balls of butter at statues to ask for favor, i.e. buttering them up. ( source ) When we use the phrase today we generally mean that extreme flattery is used to gain information or favor. It's not always necessarily a compliment.

More bang for your buck

This phrase was used a lot in 1953 but an earlier citation puts it at 1940 in a Metals and Plastics Publications advertisement. Read about it here . The phrase means you get more for your money.

Call it a Day

The literal use of this phrase hails from 1838 when the phrase originally was "call it half a day" to mean leaving work early. (source) The modern use of the phrase is to indicate ending something due to false sense of accomplishment.
