White Cane Safety Day
When I was growing up my Mama's best friend's husband was blind and we saw them a lot. So I grew up thinking a white cane was normal, I saw how helpful it was.

Conflict Resolution Day
Conflict is "my thing" and by that I mean it's my biggest fear trigger. In my early 30's I had to finally deal with this issue.  My fear of conflict was causing more conflict, manifesting in people pleasing, in short I was miserable. Through counseling I read a book. I studied and applied the principles and to this day I consider it to be one of the most life changing books I have ever read and absorbed.
Do I like conflict now?  NOPE.  But do I avoid it? NOPE.
Conflict is a slippery slope.  It can ruin your own emotional, and spiritual, health. It can, and will, ruin your personal relationships as well as your professional ones.
If you avoid conflict by either escaping or attacking I highly encourage you to address that avoidance and learn how to face conflict in healthy ways.

If you need help in resolving conflict or learning how to resolve conflict, here is a list of organizations that offer services.

Butter someone up

There are two probable origins for this idiom and I think both are equally plausible. The first one is that when you spread butter on bread you are buttering it up like one would do when trying to flatter someone. The second is in ancient India there was a practice of throwing balls of butter at statues to ask for favor, i.e. buttering them up. ( source ) When we use the phrase today we generally mean that extreme flattery is used to gain information or favor. It's not always necessarily a compliment.

Call it a Day

The literal use of this phrase hails from 1838 when the phrase originally was "call it half a day" to mean leaving work early. (source) The modern use of the phrase is to indicate ending something due to false sense of accomplishment.

More bang for your buck

This phrase was used a lot in 1953 but an earlier citation puts it at 1940 in a Metals and Plastics Publications advertisement. Read about it here . The phrase means you get more for your money.
