#TrainingTuesday


Last year my hub trained for his first full marathon. He's done a couple of halves but last September was his first full. (And no, those are not his shoes and my shoes above!)

He trained for 16 weeks before running the marathon. This time of training was serious. I almost think running the marathon is easier than the training! The time of training consumed his time, in varying lengths, and he got pretty tired of the schedule. But he had a goal so he pushed through the weariness of the training and kept on.

He's a better person than I am. He's got more self-discipline and stick-with-it than I do or will ever have. So today, in honor of my rockstar training hub, #TrainingTuesday is about endurance.

One important tip for endurance is find the right training plan. If the plan isn't right for you then chances are good you are going to give up. And that might seem obvious but it turns out a lot of us aren't consistent with consistency! What's important about consistency and sticking with it? Well, that's how true change or transformation comes about.

It turns out that having the right training plan and being consistent isn't really what builds our endurance. It's endurance that builds our endurance. Those other things certainly help and aid us but endurance training is what will take us the farthest when all is said and done. Not only does endurance training benefit us physically but it benefits us mentally - which might be more important. That's because our minds are usually what we need to push past when we have hit that wall and want to stop. So today let's focus on building our mental stamina for endurance.
