Holocaust Remembrance Day
Today is the 70th Anniversary of the liberation of three of the largest concentration camps that marked the end of World War II, it simultaneously also observes the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising at the beginning of the war. Bergen-Belsen, Buchenwald, and Auschwitz. Three of the most infamous camps that saw the deaths of millions of Jews and other members of society that Hitler deemed undesirable. Some people wonder why a remembrance like this is important, why keep bringing it up? If we let it fade off into history, if we do not remind ourselves and newer generations of what happened then the chances of it repeating are greater. We remember to never forget so it can never happen again.
National High Five Day
Like many other observance days, this day isn't what it seems on the surface.
Giving high fives is fun but today giving high fives can help save lives.

National Eggs Benedict Day
It's the sauce, that Hollandaise sauce. I could drink it. Forget the english muffin, the eggs, whatever else is on there - all just vehicles to the sauce.

National Librarian Day
Thank your local librarians today. Take them a treat to thank them for the work they do to keep our public libraries stocked and patrons well-read. Truthfully I would LOVE to work in a library! (This probably surprises none of you.)

Poem in Your Pocket Day
A Pocket Poem by Bobbi Katz
With a poem in your pocket
and
a pocket in your pants
you can rock with new rhythms.
You can skip.
You can dance.
And wherever you go,
and whatever you do,
that poem in your pocket is going there, too.
You could misplace your homework.
You could lose your left shoe.
But that poem in your pocket will be part of you.
And nothing can take it.
And nothing can break it.
That poem in your pocket
becomes
part of...
YOU!
Pick your favorite poem, pocket it, and share it with others today!
