Sometimes we are the someone. Sometimes the someone is, well, someone else!

Take time today to appreciate someone who does something you take for granted.  Unknown

Everyday there are things happening all around us that we don't really see.  We've gotten so used to seeing them take place that we no longer actually see them.  You know what I mean?  For example, a public restroom.  We are used to having paper towels and toilet paper in them.  We don't necessarily know where they come from, they are just there.  Ahem.  Someone put them there.  Right?  Oh yeah, now you might be remembering that nothing gets done in life without someone doing it - putting a little effort in.  When was the last time you showed some appreciation, some gratitude, to someone who does something for you that you don't think much about but use?  Sure it might be their job BUT appreciation is still a good thing to show.  Place yourself in their shoes.  In fact, I'm willing to bet you are in their shoes in a different way!  What do you do that others use and probably take for granted and a little appreciation might be nice?  See?  It's a circle.  We are the users and the providers in various ways.  Nothing gets done in this life without someone doing it.  Sometimes we are the someone, sometimes the someone is, well, someone else!  What can you do today to really see what takes place around you and show some appreciation to those who make it happen?

Call it a Day

The literal use of this phrase hails from 1838 when the phrase originally was "call it half a day" to mean leaving work early. (source) The modern use of the phrase is to indicate ending something due to false sense of accomplishment.

More bang for your buck

This phrase was used a lot in 1953 but an earlier citation puts it at 1940 in a Metals and Plastics Publications advertisement. Read about it here . The phrase means you get more for your money.

A dime a dozen

"It's said that in the year 1796, the first U.S. dimes were produced for circulation. Hence, it would make sense for this phrase to originate sometime after." Read more here .  Today the phrase carries the meaning that something is cheap or without value if it can be lumped in with other similar or exactly-like things. It's more of an insult than anything.
