Hot Mama

Trace Adkins has some great tunes.  This is by far his best!  :)  It was no surprise to me that my friend, Misty, told me I should do this song for the experiment!
Trace Adkins has, apparently, observed my husband and used him as the basis for this song.  I just don't get my hub.  He seems to have eyes that see what he wants to see and not what's reality and standing in front of him! :)  I suppose I should be thankful.  I think I'm a lot like the woman in the video, completely oblivious to my husband's second set of eyes.  At the risk of TMI, that's me sacked out at the end of the day not even thinking about anything but sleep!  And my hub is NO GOOD for me when it comes to physical fitness matters.  I could be double my size now and he'd not even bat an eye but still be after me.  He's a good man.  Well regardless of his apparent bad eyesight I still am making efforts to fit into "those" jeans!  But Trace Adkins honest song makes me really appreciate my hub, what a great guy to put up with me like he does!  :)

Butter someone up

There are two probable origins for this idiom and I think both are equally plausible. The first one is that when you spread butter on bread you are buttering it up like one would do when trying to flatter someone. The second is in ancient India there was a practice of throwing balls of butter at statues to ask for favor, i.e. buttering them up. ( source ) When we use the phrase today we generally mean that extreme flattery is used to gain information or favor. It's not always necessarily a compliment.

Call it a Day

The literal use of this phrase hails from 1838 when the phrase originally was "call it half a day" to mean leaving work early. (source) The modern use of the phrase is to indicate ending something due to false sense of accomplishment.

More bang for your buck

This phrase was used a lot in 1953 but an earlier citation puts it at 1940 in a Metals and Plastics Publications advertisement. Read about it here . The phrase means you get more for your money.
