For Friday, August 12: Fight The Fear

So yesterday I said I would have to feature Caleb, the band made up of Steven Curtis Chapman's two sons, Caleb and Will Franklin plus another friend of theirs.  I figured there was no time like the present!  :)
There is no doubt that both Caleb and Will Franklin have inherited some musical ability from their famous Dad.  In their own right they are great musicians and haven't modeled themselves after Dad, which is refreshing, but have forged their own way with their own style of music.
Fight the Fear fits this style that Caleb has.  It sounds nothing like anything Steven Curtis Chapman would do and that is a-okay with me!  :)  I love that their style is going to bring them their own fans, legitimately.  It won't be because they were riding Daddy's coattails.
The Chapman's are a tight-knit family and it shows in how the boys relate to one another and if you watched yesterday's video interview with their Dad you can see the three of them interacting and you can see the closeness.  I assure you it is NOT contrived.  This family has walked through a very dark valley in the past few years when Will Franklin didn't see his baby sister, Maria, in the driveway and backed over her, ending her life.  That right there will make anyone doubt there is a God and the familial bonds but the Chapman's have emerged stronger in their faith and beliefs and stronger in their family relationships.
Fight the Fear speaks to exactly that - fighting fear because all it will do is cripple you if you don't fight it.  Will Franklin knows a lot about this particular subject as he's had a hard few years facing all sorts of fears - of driving, of his relationships with his family, of God's eye on him, of what people would think of him, etc.  But he has fought, and probably continues to fight, a courage filled battle and is slowly conquering what threatens to destroy his peace.
What fears threaten you?  Fight them.  Fight them with the strength God gives you.  Conquer them and be victorious.

The Feast of Firstfruits & Easter Go for Broke Day If it scares you this is the day to go for it no matter what. One Day Without Shoes Day Today is to raise global awareness for children’s health and education.  Why shoes? Because shoes help protect from bacteria in the dirt, rusty nails, dirty needles and shoes enable feet to withstand the long distances most children in developing countries need to walk to get to school. Join TOMS One for One There is plenty of criticism out there for TOMS and its short term solutions. Critics don't even buy the "at least they are doing something" statement.  However, you have to start somewhere. And every bit of awareness helps something go from short term to long term.  We all have a part to play. Read a Road Map Day One of the many reasons I would stink at The Amazing Race is because I never did learn how to read a road map well.  I remember doing worksheets and class lessons on maps and I was able to skate by to pa
