Looking for the out?

The only way out is through. Robert Frost

There's no better way to say it than how Frost so simply put it.  The only way out of a situation is to go through it.  And yes, that means you are probably going to be walking through some painful and messy but yet exciting stuff on your way through.  I'm willing to bet that you *all* know what I mean.  I think we've all had to get out by going through.  I know I have.  Oh sure, I tried to look for the out without having to walk through but there was no other path to take.  Even the shortcuts we attempt will eventually lead us back to the main path where we have to walk  through.  Why do we look for the out?  The out before its time steals from us character development, growing some thick skin, gaining some life experience, expanding our worldviews even.  Walking through helps us grow in all of those ways and more!  And while we think, yes we deceive ourselves, that going around the through to get to the out faster and without pain is the easier attempt we couldn't be more wrong.  All that avoiding the through will do is delay what you are supposed to learn.  It delays getting through to the out, dragging the process out much longer than necessary.  The only way out really is to go through.  And even though the through may be painful and messy look for the exciting in it, look for the growth, look for the life experience - heck embrace it!  Yes it is possible to embrace hard things and allow them to grow you up.  And we all need to grow up in specific ways so let the through accomplish what it is supposed to and arrive at your out at the time you should be.

One Day Without Shoes Day Today is to raise global awareness for children’s health and education.  Why shoes? Because shoes help protect from bacteria in the dirt, rusty nails, dirty needles and shoes enable feet to withstand the long distances most children in developing countries need to walk to get to school. Join TOMS One for One There is plenty of criticism out there for TOMS and its short term solutions. Critics don't even buy the "at least they are doing something" statement.  However, you have to start somewhere. And every bit of awareness helps something go from short term to long term.  We all have a part to play. Read a Road Map Day One of the many reasons I would stink at The Amazing Race is because I never did learn how to read a road map well.  I remember doing worksheets and class lessons on maps and I was able to skate by to pa
