The Motions

Complacency scares me.  It should scare you too.  The Motions is about complacency.  If we spend our lives just going through the motions we will end our lives with regret.  Guaranteed.  Why?  Because we are meant to have abundant life! And abundant life doesn't come by going through the motions of life.  It comes by living life to the fullest, by taking risks and chances, by loving others well, by practicing forgiveness and grace, etc etc.

When I consider the motions I have gone through in my life the most obvious set of motions I have gone through is those of the Church.  See, I was birthed into the church.  Heck I was attending church while still in the womb.  (No, really I was...)  So it's been easy and seamless to go through the motions of Church because I was raised up to do that.  And then.  Well then I got my own mind, somehow I was able to retrieve it from the Church and the motions and begin to discover for myself what this life in Christ thing was really all about.  And the most interesting thing has happened.  The more I learn about life in Christ the further I pull away from the motions I was raised up on.

I don't want to go through the motions.  I want to be known as a woman of authenticity.

Critics don't even buy the "at least they are doing something" statement.  However, you have to start somewhere. And every bit of awareness helps something go from short term to long term.  We all have a part to play. Read a Road Map Day One of the many reasons I would stink at The Amazing Race is because I never did learn how to read a road map well.  I remember doing worksheets and class lessons on maps and I was able to skate by to pa
