#TherapyThursday

Been thinking about getting some counseling (therapy)? Finding a counselor that you fit with can be hard but so worth it. You want to be able to trust that person since they will be hearing your heart - things that maybe you have never said out loud before. It will end up being one of the most important relationships you might ever have.

A good therapist is accurately described by this statement:

A good therapist will value your journey and process and count it sacred. It might take you a few tries to find a counselor that works for you and your needs - keep looking, don't give up. Get recommendations from people in your life, from your primary Doctor, from your gut instinct. I've been really fortunate to meet with some great counselors in my journey. I haven't stuck with the same one for various reasons but each one has been really helpful in my healing process. I'm not always in therapy, I go in seasons. And it's because our healing happens in seasons. Some seasons we are ready to address something, and others seasons we aren't there yet. Sometimes we aren't aware of what *stuff* is in us to be looked at and in its own season it will come to the surface. It's all okay, it's all good. Find someone to help you through it all.

Critics don't even buy the "at least they are doing something" statement.  However, you have to start somewhere. And every bit of awareness helps something go from short term to long term.  We all have a part to play.
