#TherapyThursday

There's this weird lie out there that we aren't good, worthy, or enough if we aren't a finished project yet. That unless we are complete we can't take part in, well, life. This is a lie. Let me say it again, it is a lie. We can be "unfinished" and be amazing. I got curious about works of art - if there were any unfinished ones that were considered masterpieces and beautiful. Turns out yes. Yes there are. In case you are interested as I was check out these beautiful masterpieces that are unfinished: Art Interrupted: The 5 Most Famous Unfinished Paintings, The thrilling beauty of unfinished artWhy we love unfinished art

So there's the evidence, as today's #TherapyThursday quote says, that we can be both a masterpiece and a work in progress and it's beautiful and enough. In fact, unlike paintings that do eventually - for the most part - get finished we don't ever finish until it's our time. And that is what makes us a masterpiece. Always being in progress in a beautiful way to live life.

Think about it this way - once a painting is finished it is done. It can't be brushed up, it can't be "edited" in any way, it is finished. But we get opportunities and chances to continue to grow and improve and heal. People, this is GOOD news! Let's be proud to be a work in progress.  Let's embrace the fact that this life is a work in progress and we should be grateful, we can see the beauty in that - we can see ourselves as the masterpieces we are even while the work continues.

For #TherapyThursday I recommend we all take a long look at ourselves and appreciate how masterful we are and how beautiful it is that we are still in progress.

One Day Without Shoes Day Today is to raise global awareness for children’s health and education.  Why shoes? Because shoes help protect from bacteria in the dirt, rusty nails, dirty needles and shoes enable feet to withstand the long distances most children in developing countries need to walk to get to school. Join TOMS One for One There is plenty of criticism out there for TOMS and its short term solutions. Critics don't even buy the "at least they are doing something" statement.  However, you have to start somewhere. And every bit of awareness helps something go from short term to long term.  We all have a part to play.
