For Saturday, August 11: Have you met him...really?

If you aren't enamored, captivated, by Jesus then perhaps you should consider if you have ever really met him. Dan Jessup

At Family Camp my friend Dan was club speaker.  This is what we talked about.  The person of Jesus.  Does he enamor you?  Are you captivated by him?  No?  Then have you met him...really?  I venture to say "no".  Dan is right.  If you aren't enamored by Jesus then you probably haven't truly met him, just a glimpse is all you've gotten and chances are good it wasn't an accurate glimpse.
See when I really met Jesus I became speechless, awed, humbled, amazed, and a crying mess.  Just the thought of him gets me weepy.  He is beyond words.  I've really met him and it wasn't on a Sunday morning or Wednesday night. It was in my life that I really and truly met him.  It was without a Pastor telling me what to do and how to do it.  It was without textbook answers and false appearances.  It was in the nitty-gritty of my life.  It was in the day in and day out of good and bad.  He has me completely captivated and I am better for it.  I am a better friend, wife, co-worker, mom, person.  I am better because I have been captured by Jesus.  He is the way, the truth, the life.  He is the way in all my days - at work, at home, in my relationships.  He is the truth in all my days - at work, at home, in all my relationships.  He is life - both here in the present and looking forward to the future.  I've really met him, I've met him one on one instead of through others who haven't met him but like to pretend they have.  Meet him.  Really meet him.  Go find him yourself, quit relying on others to point you to him or introduce you.  Go and really meet him.  And then my bet is you too will become speechless.

One Day Without Shoes Day Today is to raise global awareness for children’s health and education.  Why shoes? Because shoes help protect from bacteria in the dirt, rusty nails, dirty needles and shoes enable feet to withstand the long distances most children in developing countries need to walk to get to school. Join TOMS One for One There is plenty of criticism out there for TOMS and its short term solutions. Critics don't even buy the "at least they are doing something" statement.  However, you have to start somewhere. And every bit of awareness helps something go from short term to long term.  We all have a part to play. Read a Road Map Day One of the many reasons I would stink at The Amazing Race is because I never did learn how to read a road map well.  I remember doing worksheets and class lessons on maps and I was able to skate by to pa
