No limits

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. Bruce Lee

Why do we limit ourselves?  Whether consciously or unconsciously when we place limits on what we can or will do we place a burden on ourselves and on others.  If I place a limit on what I will do then I have increased someone's workload.  I'm not talking about those things that I literally cannot do or am not trained to do - like fly a plane.  Trust me, you want me to limit myself on that!  I'm talking about those everyday kind of tasks that just need someone to do them and if I am not willing out of selfishness, poor work ethic, etc then I have increased someone else's workload.  (Yes this does kind of take us back to my thoughts on work ethic last week, doesn't it?)  If I place a limit on what I think I can (or can't in this case) do then I have placed a burden on  myself.  I am denying myself a chance to grow in character, skills, favor even.  And that choice isn't just all about me.  It will increase the burden on myself but it does eventually increase the burden on others as well because then they have to pick up the slack.  Stretch yourself, challenge yourself, grow yourself and don't place limits on what you think you or can't do!  It never hurts to aim high.  If we limit ourselves in one area of life it will spread, like a cancer, to other areas.  Oftentimes I see this when counseling someone.  They have limited themselves in one area of their life and soon all the areas of their life are limited and need attention and help to be released from the plateaus.  If you have a vision statement, a mantra, a purpose statement for your life make sure it includes no limits.  Otherwise you are just cruising along the plateaus and increasing the burden in your life and others.

One Day Without Shoes Day Today is to raise global awareness for children’s health and education.  Why shoes? Because shoes help protect from bacteria in the dirt, rusty nails, dirty needles and shoes enable feet to withstand the long distances most children in developing countries need to walk to get to school. Join TOMS One for One There is plenty of criticism out there for TOMS and its short term solutions. Critics don't even buy the "at least they are doing something" statement.  However, you have to start somewhere. And every bit of awareness helps something go from short term to long term.  We all have a part to play. Read a Road Map Day One of the many reasons I would stink at The Amazing Race is because I never did learn how to read a road map well.  I remember doing worksheets and class lessons on maps and I was able to skate by to pa
