#WinningWednesday

Our #WinningWednesday topic is about winning! Well, duh Beth. Right?! But let me explain. Actually, I'll let someone else explain.

Winners know what they want and therefore do whatever they have to do, to get there. You need to stay dedicated in order to become a winner in life. (source) So for winning wednesday let's talk about winning - sticking with it or not quitting. Full confession: I'm not a winner. I am very persistent but not in the things that matter. So today's winning topic is for me, if *you* get something out of it great. *grin*

Don't Quit
(author unknown - there's a few names out there so who knows)

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit—
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

The temptation to quit is a recurring theme. But winners don't give in to the temptation, they use it to evaluate things and find reasons to keep going. Michael Hyatt has some thoughts about this temptation and battling it, you can read those insights by clicking here

One Day Without Shoes Day Today is to raise global awareness for children’s health and education.  Why shoes? Because shoes help protect from bacteria in the dirt, rusty nails, dirty needles and shoes enable feet to withstand the long distances most children in developing countries need to walk to get to school. Join TOMS One for One There is plenty of criticism out there for TOMS and its short term solutions. Critics don't even buy the "at least they are doing something" statement.  However, you have to start somewhere. And every bit of awareness helps something go from short term to long term.  We all have a part to play. Read a Road Map Day One of the many reasons I would stink at The Amazing Race is because I never did learn how to read a road map well.  I remember doing worksheets and class lessons on maps and I was able to skate by to pa
